The Mountain Quail Quilters Guild is located in the town of McArthur, California.  Our members come from all over the intermountain area, including the towns of Montgomery Creek, Round Mountain, Burney, Hat Creek, Cassel, Fall River Mills, Bieber and Adin.  These towns are nestled in a series of valleys within the Cascade Mountains of Northern California and boast the beauties of nature with the nearby Burney Falls, Hat Creek, Pit River and Fall River.  This is a paradise for hunters and fishermen!  It takes just over an hour to drive to  Mount Shasta and Mount Lassen National Park.  This is small town living at its finest!

Our Story

The Guild was established in 1984 in Fall River Mills, California.  The group originally met once a month on a Saturday at the Lions Hall with the purpose of just getting together to quilt.  Ruthie Knoch was the first president and members came from as far as Big Valley and Burney.  Guild members had a desire to help others and so the idea of an Opportunity Quilt was born and proceeds were donated to local charities.   Now quilters make and donate quilts to elderly residents in long-term care facilities throughout the intermountain area or to other local needy groups.  Over the years the membership has grown but the purpose remains the same; to enjoy the art of quilting and make wonderful life-long friendships.

Mountain Quail Quilters Vision is

  • to provide access to the art of quilt making

  • to commit to sharing the resources to promote community pride, support and responsibility

Quilters meet on the second Thursday of the month at 9AM at the Lions Hall, Highway 299 East, McArthur, California. The business meeting starts at 9.30 AM.
